‘HAHA’ is built entirely around a sample of Charlotte making herself laugh and perfectly captures the essence of Charlotte & Bolis’ forthcoming debut album Topical Dancer. Their take on familiar genres is always off-kilter; ‘HAHA’ sounds undone and a little wonky, yet it’s written as a nocturnal heater to make the club throb.
The track is paired with a similarly abstract video by Hugo Campan, featuring kaleidoscopic visuals of Charlotte & Bolis amongst imagery of an egg, which they say is “a visual shorthand for unhatched potential” and an ongoing theme throughout their debut record.
